In Cavalaire-sur-Mer, you eat well and you eat varied. From feet-in-the-sand paillote to gourmet table, from neighbourhood pizzeria to Wednesday Provençal market — here’s our address book, tested and approved by Villa Bella Vista guests.
Breakfast
Boulangerie Léone is our almost-daily starting point. Warm pastries from 7 AM, sourdough bread, traditional baguettes, olive fougasse — a stone’s throw from the Villa. Walking to the bakery via the path, baguette under arm, is a small holiday ritual.
Town restaurants
Pampa — the up-and-coming spot. Inventive Mediterranean cuisine, beautiful plates, intimate atmosphere. Book ahead in high season.
Les Rotisseurs de la Côte — spit-roasted meats, generous sides, family vibe. Our “safe bet” address for groups.
Le Bellini — the locals’ favourite pizzeria. Thin crust, wood-fired oven, fair prices. Perfect for an easy post-beach dinner.
L’Émeraude — traditional French and Provençal cuisine, pleasant terrace, attentive service. Good lunch option.
L’Italien en Provence — fresh pasta, antipasti, Italian wines. Short but well-crafted menu.
Rhum Café — not really a restaurant, but an aperitivo institution: creative cocktails, tapas, port view. At 6 PM, the place comes alive.
Feet-in-the-water paillotes
On the main Cavalaire beach, several paillotes offer lunch or dinner on the sand:
BOHO — chic-casual vibe, fresh Mediterranean food, day-rate sunbeds. Our pick for a glamorous lunch.
Tamaris Beach — the family institution. Classic beach menu (salads, grills, fish), efficient service even in peak season.
Le Ponent Plage — quieter than the others, open view, pleasant lunch.
Plage du Soleil — the most discreet, ideal for escaping the bustle. Beautiful short menu, comfortable sunbeds.
The Wednesday Provençal market
On Wednesday mornings, the market sets up on the port square. It’s the time to stock up for the week or assemble a gourmet picnic: Nyons olives, tapenade, Var goat cheese, Cavaillon melons, white peaches, heirloom tomatoes, still-warm pissaladière…
Our ritual: market round, baguette at Léone, and lunch on the Villa terrace with sea view.
For a special dinner
For an exceptional dinner, take the car (25 min) to Ramatuelle or Gassin — hilltop villages classified among France’s most beautiful. Several tables offer refined cuisine in exceptional settings.
In Saint-Tropez (35 min), the institutions are there: Sénéquier on the port for breakfast, L’Auberge des Maures for traditional Provençal cuisine.
Practical tip
Almost all good addresses require reservations in July-August — often 1-2 weeks in advance. Off-season, you can try without, but the 8-9 PM slot remains tight everywhere.
Hungry for holidays? Book one of our six apartments in Cavalaire — equipped kitchen for the evenings you cook in, terrace for aperitivos that stretch on.
